Ballerina

This is a lino cut print.

This is a monoprint. The figure was etched into a zinc plate.  Black ink was rubbed into the marks and then a roll up of a payne's grey was layered on top. The marks were 
made with a Q-tip.

Marble Nude

This print was done from a zinc plate.  The background used the viscosity technique to create marble layers.

Portrait in Red

Pastel drawing on paper slashed with oil paint.

Male Nude

This drawing was done in pastels on a paper with coffee ground. Unfortunately I placed it too low or drew it too large and the feet are missing. I  am posting it because I like the top half and finally drew some believable hands.

Reduction Drawing

This is a technique to create light by erasing a prepared background.  Since the paper is newsprint, the contrast is less obvious than I wanted.

Sick Model

This model came to us with the flu because she didn't want to disappoint our atelier.  Honestly she didn't except that she needed to keep her eyes closed because she felt sick.

I used soft pastels on a support of acrylic with Golden Acrylic Ground for Pastels on top.  The size is 19" x 24".  The model session was three hours.

This is a 40 minute vine charcoal sketch was done from a live model on Strathmore Drawing paper. I think I got the twist of the body, hence the post.

Model "At the Beach"

This pose reminds me of a very old photograph of my Mother.  You can image wind blowing the model's hair and  gauzy white top. She looks like she is on a beach somewhere and not in our classroom.

It's fun to draw foreshortened figures.  I love the way the shapes stack one on top of the other until the form is revealed.

Seated Male Nude

College of Marin Life Painting class.

This was a 40 minute life drawing session. After class I worked on the face and hair. The torque of the body is off, but the face is right on.
